The video installation ‘Terra Nakupa’ is a project about the construction of Brasilia from a black/indigenous perspective and its consequences in our imaginary of Brazil. Through a poetic record, we will discuss this little-talked-about perspective of the construction of our country's political centre, tensioning historical spaces from the foundation of Brazil to the current moment in which we are witnessing the highest symbol of government being vandalised and rebuilt in parallel with the reconstruction of a country-land razed to the ground after years of neglect by an intolerant government. Through archives, paintings, photographs and film footage taken in the Brasilia region; some testimonies and narrations, we stitch together an immersive video that was part of the Brazilian pavilion at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale.
