Softly Brutal is a film set in Khlong Toei, Bangkok’s largest informal settlement, home to over 100,000 people. Challenging common clichés, it observes the community’s daily rhythms, micro-economies, and social bonds. Through intimate encounters and spontaneous moments, the film explores domestic life within this dense urban fabric, depicting in fine detail a maze of streets where the boundary between private and public dissolves.
