Sara Nunes was born in Lisbon in 1985. She graduated with a
degree in Architecture in 2009 from the Escola Superior Artística do Porto and
the Universität Kassel. Following her studies, she worked as an architect in
Madrid from 2011 to 2012 at Ensamble Studio.
In 2013, she established the architecture film company Building
Pictures. Since then, the company has produced over 300 short films that have
been selected for film festivals and exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, such
as Encontros da Imagem, Invisible cities - International Festival of Urban
Multimedia, Venice Biennale [2016 and 2021], 3rd Istanbul Design Biennale,
Outdoor Cinema Nights at Selina, ADFF, and Architecture Short Films - MAAT. In 2018, she was a finalist for the Living Places - Simon
Architecture Prize. In 2022, she produced the documentary
"Woodstories," which was selected for the ArchFilmLund and Istanbul
International Architecture and Urban Films Festival, and won the Loop Design
Awards.
Currently, she is working on the feature film "The Flying
Photographer" about Fernando Guerra, a documentary about Álvaro Siza
Vieira, and a short film about Eduardo Souto de Moura.
