Red Trees

Red Trees
Directed by Marina Willer, 2017, United Kingdom, 123’

How to understand today’s refugee crisis? The director delves into the story of her own family, one of only twelve Jewish families to survive the Nazi occupation of Prague during World War Two. The story is told through the voice of her father Alfred Willer, who witnessed bureaucratic nightmares, transportations and suicides but survived to build a post-war life as an architect in Brazil, passing on his passion for drawing to his daughter, Marina.
