Martina Muzi is a designer and researcher born in Rome. Her multidisciplinary practice develops between the private and the public, the physical and the virtual, the informal and the institutional, investigating how social relations are embedded in or affect contemporary or future design and architecture scenarios. She is a part of the architectural and design research studio Space Caviar, founded by Joseph Grima and Tamar Shafrir, which operates between design, technology, politics and the public realm.
Architect graduated by the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Milan, having attended the Lusíada University of Lisbon in 2002/03 under the Erasmus program. Since 2003 he has collaborated with various studios in Italy and Portugal, as architect and project coordinator, namely the collective Kaputt! and Barbas Lopes architects. In 2010 he founds 18:25 Digital Contractors, a laboratory for the construction of static and moving architecture images, where he carries out research and development in the digital area, exploring new methods of representation and Virtual Reality.
DIGITALAB is an architectural office, design studio and creative lab, focused on both generative design and digital fabrication. It is a young, multidisciplinary practice led by Ana Fonseca and Brimet Silva, that develops projects in several fields: product design, art installation, interior design, architecture and digital research. Digitalab is committed to employing new technologies in the production of forms and spaces, exploring strategic combinations between generative processes (Computational design) and digital fabrication technologies (3D printing, CNC, laser-cutting, and robotics). Their goal is to explore the potential of digital tools as creative weapons to transform pixels into atoms, and virtual processes into physical objects and environments.
Rodrigo Areias directs and produces fiction and documentary films, alternating with other works in the video-art domain as well as video clips. He won a Golden Lion for best documentary at the Venice Film Festival and a Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival. His productions have premiered at the biggest film festivals in the world such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Rotterdam, Clermont Ferrand and Annecy and he continues to show his work around the globe.
Susana Oliveira teaches at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon. She has an MA in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art and PhD in Communication Science and published several articles and books on visual culture. She co-organized the 1st International Conference on Architecture and Fiction – Once Upon a Place, in book format in 2013, and later WritingPlace at TU Delft, 2013, and edits its platform and journal. She was Visiting Scholar at Columbia University NY in 2014, with postdoctoral research in Architecture and Literature. She also works as a freelance illustrator and has illustrated more than 20 children’s books.
