JURY

In this 5th edition of Arquiteturas there will be 20 flms of National Premiere and 2 flms of World Premiere. The flming period was open from March to June 2017 and 85 productions were received from 23 different countries. This reflects, once again, that the intersection between cinema and architecture is able to produce favourable feedback, proving that research is taking place and that is why the topic is able to generate such a broad response.
The flms in competition will be evaluated, and awarded, within the respective categories by the following members of the jury:

  • ANDREIA GARCIA

    Andreia Garcia is an architect, curator, researcher and lecturer in architecture, city, urban scenery and the theater.From 2011 to 2012, he coordinated the project Smaller Cities in the Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture in 2015 cured the Project Memory that celebrated the centenary of the Circus Theater of Braga and, in 2016, was responsible for the editorial coordination and programming of the Portuguese Representation in the XXI Milan Triennale.
    In 2015, he received the Prize Professor Manuel Tainha, the best Dissertation in Doctorate in Architecture 2014/2015, awarded by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon.
    Since the end of 2016 is co-founder, with Diogo Aguiar, the Architecture Gallery.

    JORGE CARVALHO

    Director and founder of the documentary film lab KINO-DOC, teaching there the regular and the advanced documentary courses. Also, as a teacher, he’s been teaching cinema to children and teenagers for several years in numerous Lisbon schools.

    As a filmmaker, in recent years he is mainly a film director and producer of documentaries and CGI children’s movies. He has also written articles on moving images, especially about the effects of new video technology. He is currently a co-organizer of the Festival International Signes de Nuit.

    DOMINIKA BELANSKÁ

    Dominika Belanská is an architect and placemaker based in Bratislava (Slovakia). She fosters the relationships between communities and environments they inhabit through a practice of collaborative city-making.

    LUIS MARIA BAPTISTA

    Professor at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, since 1999. He has collaborated with architect and sculptor Artur Rosa, who was married to Helena Almeida (a painter and photographer).
    This experience allowed Baptista to deepen his awareness of the link between art and architecture.
    Baptista’s enthusiasm for images and for images’ narrative possibilities propelled him to develop a daily practice of photographic writing. This practice originated an artistic project called “Os Espacialistas”.
    Founded in 2008, “Os Espacialistas” is a laboratorial project of theoretical and practical investigation that explores the connection between art and architecture. The project has been presented internationally and nationally, in Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon) and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon). Since 2002 he holds an intense collaboration with awarded Portuguese writer Gonçalo M. Tavares.

    SUSANA ROSMANINHO

    Architect, museologist, cultural producer and researcher at CITCEM/ FLUP. Co-founder and director of Container & Content – Association. She developed curatorial activity at the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt.

    In 2016, she curated the international conferences cycle “From Collections to Architectural Museums: Reflections on the future Museum(s) of Architecture in Portugal”, that took place in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon) and in the Serralves Foundation (Porto). Since 2013 is co-founder, with Pedro Azevedo, of the studio Rosmaninho + Azevedo – Architects.
