The 3rd edition of ARQUITETURAS FILM FESTIVAL LISBOA – international exhibition of documentary, experimental and fictional films about architecture – will be held from the 1st until the 4th October, with the theme “WELCOME TO THE FUTURE”.
This 3rd edition aims to provide a raid to different visions of the future: from “futures” that have revealed obsolete to those who are still timeless. It wants to go beyond the reasonable and look for unlikely previews of new worlds, which can have both extravagances, madness, prophecy, visions and insight.
It is with this look at the future that the Portuguese director Edgar Pêra appears as a central character of this year’s festival. Of his presence in the lineup this year, we highlight a session exclusively dedicated to his 3D movies [October 2 | 9.30pm | Cinema City Alvalade] and his Masterclass on the relationship between his movies and architecture [October 3 | 5.00pm | Fórum Lisboa].
ARQUITETURAS FILM FESTIVAL LISBOA premiere will be on the 30th of September with the projection of the film “99 Dom-ino” (2014), a project by the collective Space Caviar. The 100th anniversary of Le Corbusier’s Maison Dom-ino serves as a pretext for an inquiry into the Italian domesticity and its relationship with the landscape in the last 100 years. Designed for the exhibition “Monditalia” at the 14th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale, “99 Dom-ino” is an original idea of Joseph Grima, member of Space Caviar and the artistic director of this year’s Chicago Architecture Biennale.
This 3rd edition has more than 50 films in national premiere, 4 films in European debut and 6 films in world premiere. Between February and June, the festival received 159 productions from 39 different countries to join the competition. As in previous years, the award-winning films will integrate the itinerant circuit and will be welcomed by other festivals, institutions and universities in several cities, not only in Portugal but also all over the world.
