Memory is a frail device. Everything fights against it, so much to dematerialize its details and its images generation after generation. In “Forgotten” the narrator show us those successive transitions talking to us about the prayer, from the origin to its demise. Only the narration, not the ritual or its exotic functions, makes the memory. The complexity of the tale is in the highlight of the word’s fragility, linking the ritual register and the narrative one and putting in strict relation memory and oblivion, at the point of making them indivisible. A forgotten prayer lives in the story the narrator doesn’t forget.
